The bags are packed...between the three of us we'll have transported literally hundreds of pounds of equipment to Japan. It'll be cumbersome to move, tiresome to lug around, and frustrating to store...why do we do it? BECAUSE WE CAN! YARRRR!!!
And because we have to...yar...
We plan on doing animations in a miniturized studio we set up when we're there...as such we'll need high quality lights, light stands, clamps, tripods, power chords, surge protectors, bulbs and power convertors, and we'll need back-ups of all of these things.
One problem with self-financing a film is you realize the difference between how much money you "need" to make the film you envision, and how much money you "can" spend from your own bank account. Because of this barrier we're forced to minimize as many costs as possible, which means heavy bags.
On the flip side...
When the film sells for millions of dollars we'll be able to tell stories about the times when we had to lug equipment, and haul gear. We'll laugh and laugh, until we cry from laughing. And then we'll wipe away the tears with fistfulls of cash. And then we'll laugh some more...
One day...
Tomorrow Joe Budz will drive me to JFK where I'll meet Eric, and begin our Great Asian Misadventure! Next post from Asia!
Sayonara!
